The Atlantic Diet

This is the real deal.

Galician cuisine is arguably the best in the whole country of Spain! And why is that? On the edge of Europe bordered by the chilly cold waters of the Atlantic, meet the “Atlantic Diet.” The Atlantic Diet includes:

- cereals & grains

- olive oil

- farm-fresh food

With the wide variety of fresh catch-of-the-day fish literally caught just off of the Galician coast, the diet is rich in Omega-3 oils as well as grain-rich bread and the meat and veggies and salads' closeness to the the farm, things we are not so used to in the US. The variety and flavor is remarkable!

As an American visiting Santiago, you might be shocked by the large quantity of food, yet the Gallegos stay in shape. (So why do they complain about U.S. XL portion sizes!?) The difference here is that they walk more and nixed the drive-throughs, fast food, junk food to create a healthy, well-rounded diet.
