"We do not live only in primary colours," said the ocean
We do not live forever,
do not stay forever.
Oh the old colours of home
Red, yellow, blue -
They alter.
With each new hue
A step, a dance.
(Can knowledge become a betrayal,
An attack,
On home and home's god?)
The rainbow
Starts, piggybacks
On what came first
And quenches the thirst
For change.
The arrival of agency,
Which could mean direction.
A soul's fresh face reflects,
Visible
Looking into the old window
from the outside
but (like the ocean) averse to mirrors
No fear of
Captivity out here,
Imbued with confidence,
Emboldened.
